Day 1 | An English-speaking guide, a cook and a driver will greet you at the airport and you will start to explore the spectacular landscape of western Mongolia and drive to the White River Ranger Station, Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Nature is amazing, and you can do amazing natural photography and watch different birds. You will explore high beautiful mountains, pure rivers and even it is offroad driving, you will enjoy the green landscape of western Mongolia. Day 2 | After breakfast with your local tour team, your trekking experience in Altai Tavan Bogd NP will start just right after you pack camping gears on your pack camels. It is going to be an opportunity to explore western Mongolia just like local nomads migrating place to place depending on the seasons. As you get closer to the Altai mountains, you are very surprised by the beauty of nature and how stunning the mountains are. Day 3 | This is a day to climb to the Malchin Peak, one of the highest Peaks of Altai Tavan Bogd which doesn’t require special equipment. However, you need good trekking poles because the rocky road has a lot of loose rocks and sand. So be careful while ascending it. Climbing takes around 6-7 hours for a group of average speed. Weather conditions change drastically as you rise to 3500 meters. When the wind speed reaches 9 m/s or greater, climbing is forbidden. | Tent, Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner |
Day 4 | You will trek back to the White River Ranger Station after breakfast. You will help the horse guides to pack the gears on the camels. Your wonders about the beauty of Altai mountains will continue all the way to the ranger station. You will arrive to the Ranger Station after 4-5 hours of trekking and overnight at the Ranger Station. You will have calm and relaxing afternoon to go around and see mounts around. Your English-speaking guide will be with you in the afternoon and you can visit to Tuvan nomadic families. Day 5 | This day your journey through the Altai Mountains will continue to Khar Salaa/Black Valley Mountain. After 6-7 hours of riding, you will arrive at the campsite and set up your tents. The area is covered with mountains. | |
Day 6 | It is a very important day for everyone in the team including pack camels. The Takhilt pass is one of the highest passes for packed camels and even for the trekkers if the weather is not good. However, based on your trekking experiences, you will pass the mountain easily. The pass is with lot of loose rocks and very steep. Just after the pass, you will explore an amazing valley called Bear Valley which is a very tiny valley with a river and trees on two sides of it. Day 8 | We are now close to the final destination of our trekking journey. We will arrive to the Khoton Lake late afternoon. Our driver will be waiting for you there near the Khoton Lake and you will camp near the lake. You can for swimming but only to the edge of the lake. The landscape is very beautiful. It is also the last day for your horse guide and camels. Your horse guide may say goodbye to you on the same day or early morning in the next day. So, you should express your appreciation to the horse guide(s) and say goodbye. | |
